That’s right. iTunes is not a very intuitive application. For example, if you have one user name and multiple iPods, there is no way to quickly organize exactly what music is uploaded to each iPod. Sure, you can restrict yourself to specific playlists, but it should also allow you to setup folders with playlist and restrict the iPod to downloading those folders. The only good solution for the two people I was helping was to create two windows accounts. This multiuser issue is not my main crit of iTunes. Instead, Where in the world is the interface. It feels like walking through a marsh in comparison to the iPod’s interface. Why isn’t iTunes organized just like the iPods music section. That would be excellent!
In comparison, we can look at google’s picasa. This application is an amazing photo organizer and then some. While, it doesn’t have to connect with an iPod, it does connect to cameras and remember which photos have already been uploaded to the computer and which are new photos. Although, it is not really good at reorganizing the photos into separate folders, it does allow you to label multiple photos, thereby grouping all of your photos into sets if it’s not already organized.
I guess nothing is perfect in the world.
