Waikato River In The Morning

This is my last post on this wonderful trip. I have been incognito due to the remote nature of this part of the trip. I spent the last few days in New Zealand filming mostly time lapse footage. I did not have the chance to get the perfect sun set where the sun sinks below the horizon of the ocean. However, I did get heaps and heaps of beautiful shots. I also had a chance for some major chillax. This has been a wonderful part of my holiday, but I enjoyed Australia the most and wish I could have stayed longer. I recommend this sort of trip to everyone my age because I came out of it changed and different. It even affected my accent a bit. Well, I’ll probably write again with a few more images when I get to the States. Until then, I have included a video of a time lapse I shot this morning. Enjoy.

Kookaburra perched on an old gum tree

Kookaburra spies a piece of crab

I went to a place called Port Stephens yesterday. I have footage of various boats and such, but the really cool part were the shots I was able to capture of a little kookaburra. I had actually been wanting to get some footage of them for a good while now. It made yesterday’s trip an amazing day. I also have some wondrous footage from around sunset. There is one shot in particular that I absolutely love. I hope I can get more like it in the future because the gold and pink colors made me want to stare at it for a long time.

Gray Roos of Insanity

Gray Roos near Morisset

I went out to a place near where I am staying that has a huge mob of gray roos. They are quite tame because people often feed them bread. So, I ended up getting very close to these critters. You could easily touch them and look at them in the eyes. The crazy part was that they are located in the yards outside the Morisset Mental Institution. Oh well. It was totally worth the trip because roos are normally very hard to see in the wild.

Koalas in a Golden Hue

Koala in Blackbutt Reserve

I went to a nature reserve yesterday, mainly to see koalas. I think most of the shots from that trip turned out lovely. I also have a lot of footage from a pier and also along the coastline. It was a good day and I look forward to a continuing good weekend with an afternoon of filming roos in a park today. More on that tomorrow perhaps.
