It is fascinating that I have been living in Australia for well over the last two years. I just finished my paperwork for permanent residence and should hear from the government here in a little while. So, I will change status from a temporary permanent resident to a permanent resident. As of this month, I have been married to my beautiful wife for two years. Amazing!

Apparently, I have a world audience now. The above image is a color concentration map from Google Analytics of countries that people are visiting this blog from. How strange that something I just did for fun would get so many hits. I look at about 10,000 page views per month. A lot of this stems from Google indexing some things on my site in high ranks. But, some of it is repeat visitors. I do not pay a lot of attention to this thing lately, but I suppose I will continue to use it as a venue to show personal works in progress. I definitely need to make time to record more footage with my camera. However, I actually have some other web related projects in the works at the moment during my weekends.

I have not posted here since I was last in Australia in May. Life was much too busy, and my current job takes great precedence over my life. However, I’m engaged and getting married next year. Crazy hey? It’s probably the best time of my life right now. I’m guessing it’ll just continue to improve. Work is busy and I have gigs on the weekend for my fiance’s band all the time right now, but I feel blessed to be here. Where is here, you ask? Australia is where it’s at. That’s right I moved from America to live in Australia on a permanent basis. I love it here.

Last week I went on one of the best trips of my life to a place called Kanangra Walls. It was a fantastic trip with amazing views and a super clean river to camp near. We had to hike for six hours to get to our destination, but it was all worth it. The views on the way there were spectacular, but the fog on the way back was incredible. I may post some other photos from the journey in future posts, but I am most likely returning to the US and will be more capable of sharing such images in person. I just saw FoxyTunes on the blog of a friend and liked what I saw, hence the current use of it.

Here one of the pictures I took of the chicken shop that exploded last night. The authorities had the street cordoned off, and I heard that the residents living above the shop in the apartment tower have to find another place to stay until the investigation is complete. This place is literally the next block over. from where I slept. Talk about a close call. I walked around town today and bought my train tickets out to where I’m staying for the next few months. The weather is wet. When I got off the plane it was excruciatingly humid. My t-shirt was soaked through when I got to the Unilodge. Fortunately, today is much cooler and less humid.

I’ve decided to post for a number of days that I had jet lag and didn’t feel like writing. This is one of the most exciting trips of my life. It is by far one of the most interesting. I got stuck in LAX overnight. This was followed by getting stuck in Sydney for two days. Whilst I was there I hopped on the ferry to Manly to get some of the famous fish and chips. It was nice except for getting soaked on the way back. A chicken shop exploded a block from where I slept in the Unilodge. The entire building shook, but I fell right back to sleep. I guess I figured I was all right. Perhaps I should worry more when loud explosions occur in the middle of the night. It’s odd how sleep deprivation from airplane travel slows your thinking.

Nothing like taxes at the start of the year. It’s “fun” to know that taxes will only get more complex as I get deeper into the business world. I got a handy federal return. The really interesting part was the state sales tax for internet items. I purchased a new camcorder from a company in California. They first wanted to charge me the 8.5% sales tax, but I would rather pay 5.5% that I get here instead. So, they knocked it off. This is cause for much rejoicing because it turns out that the 5.5% sales tax for all my internet purchases last year work out to less that the singular amount assigned by California lady for my camera.

Oberon is progressing. I’m still thinking through what catalysts are necessary to develop an grander conflict from what I first planned. If I have to, I can always fall back on the base story. However, I’d like to weave some mystery and suspense into the script as I plan my scenes. In any case, I hope it all works out. I just need to convince those I need to use to make the story. If it doesn’t work out, I still will have a good number of hours of footage from some pretty cool places. And, I have other short films in the works too.

The first three seasons of Lost are available for free viewing on ABC.com. I had never had time to watch any TV during the college semesters. So, I’ve made up for it in the time I have before I go off to the end of the world next week by watching a good portion of the first season of Lost last night. It’s fun to see that the creators of Cloverfield have hit a gold mine in TV. It makes perfect sense that they would now be moving into films with such a great show under their belt and still going strong. For all the people who told me to watch this, I only ridiculed it because I was mad not to have time for it.

The show reminds me of Michael Crichton books, with its mystery, corporations performing exotic experiments, everyman characters discovering the are entangled in something scary, etc. I haven’t come across anyone comparing the show to Crichtons’ work before. It’s intriguing stuff and I know the story gets much more complex in the following seasons. Unfortunately that will have to wait until things have settled down, until I’ve moved to a new city. That’s not going to happen until this summer. Why? Why indeed? Let’s just say that I’m doing the coolest thing I can imagine that is possible without a lot of money. More on that in May. Now if you’re still stumped, then you either don’t know me or haven’t seen me recently.

I saw a wallpaper made for the iPhone that I thought was goofy. So, I threw together a larger one for wide screen laptops. I hope Apple bring the touchscreen stuff to their laptops next. That would be a bold and interesting move for them. I really wish I had money to get a new Apple laptop. I’m looking at the money that I currently have and debating as to what I will purchase and what will take precedence. Let’s just say I’m planning a little trip when I graduate. Obviously, microphones take precedence over everything else because I don’t have anything worth using yet. Then, I’m debating about purchasing a 35mm adapter. It’s a series of tough choices. I hope I make the right ones.

The new Camaro concept looked beautiful in Transformers. Apparently, the car is scheduled to come back to stores in 2009. They have a beautiful website up for it. The site is definitely worth seeing because it has some really nice wallpaper that is easy on the eyes. I want to test drive the convertible as soon as that sucker is out in the store. Mmm Mmm!
